STONE ART

4. KLEI CRAQUELURES MET PIGMENTEN ENKEL VOOR BINNEN EN GOED VERNISSEN NA DROOGTIJD.

Maak klei zoals hierboven beschreven.

STONE ART

WHAT IS STONE ART?

Stone Art is a powder with a very specific and unique composition. You can use it in different ways. For example, you can make a self-hardening clay or a structure on a painting in combination with Powertex. Possibilities go as far as your imagination reaches, you can even use Stone Art for all kinds of stone effects such as the typical blue stone and ceramic effect.

THE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES:

1. MAKING A CLAY

Mix the same amount of Powertex and Stone Art in a cup. Keep adding Stone Art powder until you get a kind of bread dough. It should no longer stick to the fingers and yet you should be able to knead it smoothly. With this clay you can sculpt into a self drying sculpture or you can apply heavy structures onto a wet Powertex surface.

2. FINE STRUCTURE

Work on a preformed figure either in styrofoam, plaster or on a self-made statue, made with aluminum foil. A statue made out of aluminum foil must get completely covered with masking tape before covering your statue with Powertex . Coat the surface with one layer of Powertex and let dry. Apply a second layer of Powertex and sprinkle Stone Art onto it, while the layer is still wet. Rub the Stone Art open and remove the excess powder. Repeat this until the desired texture is achieved. You can also apply this technique on canvas.

3.COARSE STRUCTURES

Prepare your artwork as described above. Spread another layer of Powertex and press pieces of Powertex clay into the wet layer. Also reuse the coarser waste of Stone Art if you want that effect. Sprinkle Stone Art powder over it and rub it well until it is touch dry and the desired effect is achieved. Of course you can also sprinkle Powercolor through this for some more color. Powertex is the only textile hardener that you can polish. Continue to rub with the flat bare hand on the thickest structures. The powder disappears and the surface becomes shiny. Be careful if you make an object for display outside, the Stone Art powder will not stick. Therefore, add white Powercolor to the Stone Art powder to preserve the white effects. After three weeks of drying time, always apply two coats of Easy Varnish to protect the Stone Art powder. Preferably keep Stone Art objects indoors.

4. CREATE CLAY CRACKS WITH PIGMENTS ONLY FOR INTERIOR USE AND VARNISH WELL AFTER DRYING TIME.

Make clay as described above. Form a ball and flatten it into a 2 cm thick disk. Sprinkle different color pigments on top, rub them open and do this along both sides of the clay. Take a bottle or a rolling pin and roll out to within half an inch or slightly thinner. While rolling open you will see the crackle appear. Always roll from the inside out with even pressure. Tear the art work to the desired size and apply it to your object or onto canvas in a wet layer of Powertex. Allow to dry for at least three weeks before varnishing with Easy Varnish.

TWO SIZES AND COMBINE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS.

Stone Art is available in environmentally friendly zip lock bags of 250g and 2kg. Stone Art can be combined well with 3D Sand, Powercolor, Colortricx, Bister in spray and Liquid Power. For blue stone effect, use Powertex blue gray.

STONE ART
